Suitable Technologies always recommends piloting a Beam whenever possible, but you can certainly push a Beam if you're transporting it a short distance.
A Beam is always in "Push me" mode when powered on. You'll feel a resistance if the Beam is powered off. You may also experience an even greater resistance if the device gets tipped slightly. The Beam has accelerometers to detect when it's on a slope. It will automatically apply reverse torque to keep itself from involuntarily rolling. It has the ability to tell the difference between the acceleration of gravity and the acceleration due to pushing; however, if it gets tipped, it may be fooled into thinking it's on an incline. So when pushing or pulling, try and keep it level.
Tip: We have found that pulling is easier than pushing. Try it out next time!
